My Word Winter 2026
With the Texas winter nearly behind us and 90-degree days on the horizon, we are ready for the change of seasons.
It has been a pleasure to see our social media community grow under Cat Rasmussen’s guidance. Her posts are sparking great conversations, and we are excited to keep that momentum going. We are also making great strides on our website, where you’ll soon see more research and analysis from our collaborator, Mark Rasmussen. We feel fortunate to partner with Mark; experts of his caliber in the field of ethnographic art are becoming harder to find.
After 50 years, our business has naturally evolved. We have transitioned away from the traditional gallery model to focus on what we do best: high-level consultation, authentications, appraisals, and collection management. We are dedicated to helping our clients navigate the complexities of today’s art market to find the right solutions for their collections.
If you have questions about appraisals or authentication, my wife, Barbara, is managing those requests and would be happy to help. You can reach her at [email protected] or [email protected].
On a personal note, we are mourning the loss of Elizabeth Boeckman—a wonderful mentor, collector, and leader. She will be missed by all who knew her.
We hope you enjoy this issue which covers topics from self-taught art to prehistoric Turkey. Comments on the art market, the Horde sale, our questions on pre-Columbian art repatriation might be of interest. JB
